I have a huge pool of standing water and my water bill keeps going up?

Author: admin  //  Category: ga foreclosures

My husband and I just bought our house a couple of moths ago and it was a foreclosure. Well it has had its problems and we are noticing another. We have a large pool of water right beside our drive way and house. We thought it might be from compromised drains under the ground but the water never dries up. I live in GA with a heat index of 96 for about 2 weeks with no rain and its still not dry. On top of that our water bill has gone up. Any suggestions.

seeing as how your bill keeps going up the water leak IS on your side of the meter, have a plumber come out and give an estimate unless you are a do it yourself kinda person….if so shutoff the water at the main and dig up around the water leak until you find the source of the break you may need to turn the water main back on, once you have dug up the pipe, to find the leak. i just hope you dont have to tear up your driveway to fix the leak.

you may have a broken water line. call the water company and they will check. if the problem is off the main line (as opposed to being ON the main line) you may be responsible to pay for the repair. your wtr/swr company will know and this is considered an emergency so call asap.
    all my best.

I would have that inspected soon. They should be able to tell if you have a water leak. It could be sprinkler irrigation or the home plumbing.

call the city water department and ask them to come out because you have a leak. depending on what and where they find the problem or think what the problem is they might dig up the pipe and fix it or you might have to pay for it.

Lol I live in Ga too so sorry for that. If it;’s a john wieland home he was famous for running water pipes under the driveway. Worst things you can do. My bet is your water pipe sprung a leak . Ours is a 1939 home and we had similar problem. Sure enough busted pipe in summer. If the break is between your house and the main shut off you are being charged for that water loss. Need get it fixed after it’s fixed you can call the water company see if they will readjust the bill. Wish you all the luck and sorry for the pipe but that’s my best guess dave

It sounds like you have a leak in the main pipe supplying the entire house. Note where the puddle is in relation to the meter, if the pool is before the meter then its your county’s problem and you should call them up, if its after the meter then it is your problem to have it fixed. In both cases the ground will have to be dug up at the leak so a new section of pipe can be put in. Look for pluming companies in the yellow book as they should be able to do it.

If the leak is on the street side of the meter, then your municipal water supply is responsible. If the leak is on the residence side of the meter it is the homeowners responsibility. Im surte you have a leak. More than likely pressured water. Possibly irrigation, but if you do not have a sprinkler system then it is potable water supply. Yes the municiple water supply will tell you if it is there problem or yours. Any plumbing campny could fix this issue.
